Mark J. Ellis

Spinnergy Media, a new media company, is owned and operated by Mark J. Ellis.

For more than 30 years, Ellis has helped businesses such as Digital Equipment Corp. (now Hewlett-Packard), Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corp., and Douglas Dynamics. His analytical skills propelled him from computer programmer to systems analyst and ultimately to senior IT management.

At Digital Equipment Corp., Ellis helped expand the company’s automated business-to-business transaction system through its proprietary Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) platform.

Ellis led the conversion of Vermont Yankee’s legacy business system to a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning system. He also coded the company’s first automated primary containment leak rate testing system, which tested and verified the safety of the company’s nuclear reactor.

Leading a team of ten technical experts, Ellis helped Douglas Dynamics integrate communications platforms between sites in Rockland, ME, Johnson City, TN, and Milwaukee, WI. Ellis also led the installation of the 3-site integrated manufacturing system and oversaw the company’s successful Y2K technology compliance effort.

Ellis’s diverse achievements include ringing the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange and winning a bronze medal at the U.S. Adult National Figure Skating Championships in Dallas.

In 1996, Ellis designed the first political website in Maine history for a statewide race. He became the first Asian American to serve as chairman of a major political party in Maine. He served as political director for Steve Abbott’s 2010 gubernatorial campaign and campaign manager for Rep. Matthew G. Pouliot’s Maine Legislature campaign in 2012. He returned to lead Pouliot’s 2014 campaign, securing a 2-to-1 victory.

In 2016, Ellis managed former U.S. Rep. Dave Emery’s campaign for a Maine State Senate seat in Knox County. Though Emery did not win, Ellis helped narrow a 20-percentage-point deficit to 2% in a condensed, three-month campaign.

Ellis has also served as spokesman for the Maine State Senate Majority Office during the 125th Legislature. His leadership extends to civic involvement, including serving as president of the Skating Club of Maine and as a board member for both the Skating Association of Maine and the Kennebec Valley Humane Society.

In 2019, Ellis joined the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as director of operations. He also serves as the skating director for the Skating Association of Maine where he oversees the learn-to-skate program and figure skating operations.

Ellis, known to friends as “Marcos,” resides in Hallowell, Maine.
